Types of EBSD experiment
Texture
The individual crystal orientation measurements collected
by crystal orientation mapping can be used to show the
crystallographic textures
developed in the sample. Figure 6 shows a crystal orientation map from a sample of deformed
interstitial free (IF) steel together with
pole figure and Euler space plots of the individual crystal
orientations. The various textures in the sample can be
separated automatically, their volume fractions calculated, and the regions
of the sample from which they originate shown. This is illustrated in Figure 7 which shows two texture components separated from the map
in Figure 6.
